The Great Big Voiceover Social is organised by Rob Bee and Helen Bee.
We started it because love going to conferences. We love the chance to get together with the voice over community to learn, consider our career paths, expand our horizons, and recharge our batteries and enthusiasm. There is a great need for the learning opportunities that conferences bring. But in our conversations with voiceovers we recognised a yearning for something a little bit different.
We saw a desire for a conference without the ‘conference’ bits. A chance to come together as a community and enjoy the company of other voice actors without the sitting-though-talks bit. And we saw a need for this to be more affordable than a full conference package plus hotel.
Enter stage right The Great Big Voiceover Social.
An event that captures the open arms of the voiceover community.
An ‘after hours’ atmosphere, with a few ‘value added’ bits to titillate and entertain, plus an additional soft serving of business service support. And a damn big party too!
The entire Voiceover Social network was borne out of the need for voice artists to escape the isolation of the booth and mingle with others who understand their weird little industry.
It began in 2015 in Manchester with Nic Redman and Leah Marks at the helm. What started as a local meet-up, soon spawned a podcast and then several other local groups around the UK (and incorporated a few that were already happening). In 2024 they handed over the reins to Rob and Helen Bee.
There are currently 12 Voiceover Social groups meeting across the UK, and 2 in Europe.
Rob Bee and Helen Bee are owners and directors of The Great Big Voiceover Social, The Voiceover Social and B Double E.
They are a husband and wife team who work with voice artists around the globe helping with a range of services. And they’re really bloody good at it. They won Voiceover Service Provider of the Year at One Voice UK in 2024 & 2020 and were shortlisted in 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2019.
They will give you the confidence and skills to get more work, and have fun doing it, making sure you look and sound your very best.
Rob Bee is the ‘heard’ half of B Double E; he’s an audio producer, engineer, trainer and home studio set-up guru and tech whizz. Rob will help you sound sweet.
Helen Bee is the ’seen’ half of B Double E; she’s a colour-obsessed branding and website designer and strategist. Helen will help you look fabulous.
B Double E run a range of services and events for voice over artists including studio consultations, audio training, Studio Tickling Tours, branding, websites, audio editing and production, showreels, webinars, workshops, socials and more.
