Accommodation

We have no affiliation with any hotels, but here are a selection of a few that are nearby with options for a range of budgets.

Our venue – 53two

53two is an independent theatre and arts venue in Manchester City Centre. It is a beautiful venue housed in two 150-year-old grade 2 listed railway arches.

Accessibility

Accessibility is important to us. We want as many people as possible to enjoy our event.

53two is fully accessible. It is wheelchair accessible throughout (a gentle gradient), with a lowered bar area, non-gender toilets with an accessible toilet and Changing Places Toilet. The space isn’t just adapted for people with a disability, it’s just the norm that every part of it is accessible for all.

The venue is LGBTQ+ friendly. It holds ear defenders under the bar for neurodivergent patrons. And bar staff have all been trained via a bespoke course through Manchester Deaf Centre, to converse about purchases in the venue, with BSL speakers.

53two is a dog-friendly venue too.

Quiet opening from 1pm

We understand that it can feel very overwhelming going to a new city, a new venue and meeting lots of new people. That’s why we’re offering a quiet opening from 1pm. If you would prefer a gentle, more peaceful start to your day, then you’re welcome to arrive from 1pm (1 hour before everyone else arrives).

Buddy scheme

We want you to feel welcome at our event, which can be a little tricky if you don’t know anyone (yet!). If you’re a solo attendee who’s not sure if you’ll know anyone else we’re running a buddy scheme.

Let us know if you’d like to take part when you buy your ticket and we will put you in touch with another solo attendee and one of our welcome team BEFORE the event so you can guarantee you’ll know someone when you arrive. (This is NOT a dating service!)

Food and Drink

Food

Multi-Award-Winning pies from North Manchester.

Included with your ticket is a pie of your choice (selection includes meat, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options) all will be served with mashed potato, Manchester Caviar (aka mushy peas) red cabbage and gravy.

Not only does H.M.Pasties make some pretty delicious pies, they also aim to ‘bring out the good inside’ by creating sustainable employment for people with criminal convictions. Good food with good ethics!

Drink

There is a fantastic range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available behind the bar (including low and no alcohol beers and cider).

You can get freshly brewed coffee and tea, Manchester’s Brightside Brewing gluten free and vegan beers are on tap and Manchester Gin supplies the gin.

There’s a whole host of other cans, bottles and spirits available too.

Please note 53two is a cashless venue.
